Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in New Hampshire

law suit

My business partner and I were

both named in a law suit. I was

never notified - never heard anything about it. I just got a call

a decision was made against me.

There was an attorney that filed

paperwork on my behalf and I

never knew a thing about it although my partner did but neither

one of them informed me until the

decision came back yesterday.

This lawsuit has both of our names

on it. This is just beyond belief to me. This was based on an appeal

for attorney fees. I still have not

talked to the attorney yet - can't imagine why it was kept a secret

Re: law suit

You are equally liable with your partner for partnership obligations, whether you were notified or not. But if you were named individually there may be a problem with the lawyer representing you without your authority.

Consider talking to your own attorney about this before doing anything else. And you might do it sooner rather than later since there are time limits to attack judgments, rulings, etc.
