Legal Question in Technology Law in New Hampshire

Business development protection

I am in the beginning stages of developing a new online business. My research and planning will invlove consultation with a number of individuals with regard to things such as feasability, site architecture, costs, etc. Is there a way to protect the concept of the business as I put together the necessary business plan, aquire venture capital, put employees and infrastructures in place, etc.? Since there is nothing but the concept at this stage, I can't believe there would be copyright protections, but what about confidentiality agreements with any with whom I consult or discuss.

Thanks for any help

Re: Business development protection

You are absolutely right, first to be concerned about protection, and secondly that copyright is not going to be of any use. A well-drafted confidentiality agreement is certainly in order before sharing anything with potential investors and the like. Any employees should be required to sign an employement agreement including confidentiality provisions. Lawyers already are bound by attorney-client confidentiality obligations, so no need to worry about them; financial advisors often get quite sanctimonious about this kind of thing, but they need to sign. Glad to answer any further questions offline; best wishes,
