Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Hampshire

My ex boyfriend let me move in with him a month ago. things have since gone south and we have broken up and I moved out. He now claims that I owe him X amount of money for half of his bills that I siad I wowuld help pay for via text message. Our livving agreement was never documented but we had a verbal understand that I would maintain the house, take care of his dogs and buy household needed items like groceries etc. He says he can attack me in small claims court for the money I "owe" him beacuse I sent text messages saying I would help where I could. What do I need to know? Is he just trying to scare me?

You need to know that contacts can be either written or verbal, but a writing holds more sway with the Court. You also need to know that emails and text messages are a standard and routine method of proving a case in court. He may be bluffing, but for $75, he can file a small claim against you, use the text messages as evidence, and win a judgment against you.

Incidentally, if you are having any other trouble with Debt Collectors please do not hesitate to contact me as I may be able to help you with the small claims case for free, if you have good a good FDCPA case.

Good Luck!
