Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Hampshire

im on ss disibility and my son recieves ssi i am very concerned because i recently tried to settle with three of my creditors, my reposession, and two credit cards but after i told them i wanted to settle i just got a new apartment and my funds are now gone. so i can not make the settlements i told them i would. i did talk to them on the phone but didnt sign anything. im afraid that now because i called they will take me to court and try to get a judgement against me. can they get judgements on me ? i owe a lot of people but i only make enough to make ends meet. i bought a car out of my back pay when i started recieving benifits but it was only 4,000 and i have a realitive as a lien holder thats really all i own of value. so i guess my questions are can a creditor get a judgment on me when thoses are my only sourses of income and also can they take my car or other houshold furnishings? thank you,

sincerley cant sleep at night :(

The answer is that they can get a judgment BUT if thee only income you have is SSI or other public benefits they cannot reach that income. Moreover, if you can show that you just have enough to make ends meet, the court might not order you to pay anything or a very small amount on a monthly basis.

Don't let these credit card people harrass you. If they insisit on suing you, don't ignore it. Get a lawyer right away so he/she can protect you. It will be worth it in the long run.
