Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New Hampshire

employee layoff

Ive worked for a municipality for four years, after returning from iraq a year ago I had to get the ESGR Employer support of the guard and reserve to get vacation time they gave to another employee while in Iraq but not me. Now due to budget cuts they are laying me off july1st. They just posted a Seasonal Summer job that is the same as my job just worded differentlyin the posting. The posisition is 40 hours a week for the summer. They have pay posted at almost half less they what I currently make. I am 50 disabled through the VA. We are a Union. Is this right? I feel it is discrimination. Just wondering what i can do? If I can do anything at all.

Re: employee layoff

Your post says that you are in a union. The reason that you pay those dues every month is that the union is supposed to help you in any employment-related dispute with the employer. Talk to your rep and exhaust whatever remedies your collective bargaining agreement provides before taking any steps yourself.

Best wishes,
