Legal Question in DUI Law in New Hampshire

Minor At-Fault?

I recently switched cars with my ex for the day i won't go into details why. i had travled to a nearby college and on my way home was pulled over for speeding (no radar was used or ticket recieved) he had asked to search the car i let him because i was unaware of anything in vehicle because i thought my ex (22) wouldn't be that stupid. He found two opened container in the trunk. one did i really have a right to let cop seach the vehicle because it wasn't mine? two my ex said he would like to report that he did not tell me the alcohol was in the car and he is at fault can he help at all? and is there any way i can get out of this? i was sober and there was no sobriety test was given. am i really at fault?
