Is the mother of a child who has full or joint custody required by law to remain in the same state as the father?

The answer to your question will require a review of the divorce decree. Generally, there is a provision in the document that deals with the relocation of one or both parents. There have been some changes in the statute over several years and, if there is no mention of relocation in the decree, a review of the statue would be required.
