Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Hampshire

I purchaed a home in June of 2009 in NH. Since then the basement has flooded 4-5 times (4-5inches of water). The seller did sign a disclosure but left the questions about wether the basement flooded unanswered. I did have a home inspection and they did not make mention of a flooding problem. It is going to cost $7000 to waterproof the basement. Because they answered every other question on the disclosure and not the ones about flooding, does that mean they simply did not tell us. Do we have any recourse to the seller or inspector?

If the seller had a significant water problem but it was not easily discoverable by you upon reasonable inspection, then you may have a claim. You might want to check with local contractors that might have been called by the seller to fix the problem. That would tell you that the seller was aware of the problem. Also the home inspector may have done inadequate job but it would depend upon what you asked him to done, what he did and what was readily discoverable.
