Personal Signature Legibility

Does a personal signature require to be legible? Specifically, In a legal document (immigration document in this case) when the full name is printed and a signature is required, does the signature have to be legible? Any rules or regulations regarding to personal signatures in general? Thanks for your advice.

I can't site a particular regulation. However, it has been my experience after practicing for nearly 24 years in the field, that virtually every USCIS or legacy INS examiner demanded that the alien's signature be legible. I see no point in contesting it. You need to pick and choose your battles.
