Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Traffic Issue

I got a ticket for careless driving in NJ, 39:4-97. I accidently missed the court date yesterday. What do I do to remedy the situation? Thank you.

Re: Traffic Issue

You should call the Court tomorrow and

explain and learn when you have to be in court because a failure to appear notice usually issues on the first nonappearance on a traffic ticket.

Call me if you like.

Re: Traffic Issue

Contact the court clerk immediately and explain what happened. There is a good chance that an arrest warrant might have issued for your failure to appear and you need to take care of this issue at once. Ask for another date and follow the clerk's directions as to what you must do next.

Re: Traffic Issue

I would call the court clerk immediately and advise them of the situation. Depending on the judge a failure to appear could result in an arrest warrant. After you speak with the clerk follow any directions that he/she should give you. If you need any help please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Re: Traffic Issue

Don't panic, but don't ignore the problem. Call the clerk's office tomorrow morning to explain why you didn't appear and ask for a new date/time. Write it down in several places. And make sure you get there. Good luck.
