Legal Question in Construction Law in New Jersey

bounced check

Hi,

A homeowner gave me a check for construction work that I did at his house. The check bounced. What legal options do I have ? Even on the previous payments he has been short paying me everytime, but I let it slide as long as I would get something towards my work.

Please advise.

regards,

Re: bounced check

The first thing to do is to have your lawyer file a construction lien on the property. That has be be done within 90 days after the last day of the work or the right to do it is lost. Then, you can work on a suit to recover the amount due.

My firm handles matters of this type. If I can be of further help to you, call or email.
