Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Jersey

ripped off from car repairs

Hi Im not sure how this works, as i have never done this before but i am really in a tight situation here. I live in NJ and one sunday i decided to go to the jersey shore. On the parkway my engine poped and ipulled to the side of the road. i have AAA and it was towed to a shop of the tow truck company then to a shop recommended by the tow truck guy. Lets call it shopX in Brick NJ, about 50min from my house. They are open 7 days a wk and usually till 8 at night. However, i believe that i was screwed out of $5,016.00 and my car still isnt working right, and this occured from july 20th to now. In the middle of this the car was taken to another shop when shopX couldnt find the problem. The mechanic at this shop said that shopX should have never taken the car and clearly showed he did not know what he was doing. i want my money back and my car fix so i can sell my losses. Please Help.

Re: ripped off from car repairs

There is a section of the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act that applies to automotive repairs. I don't know enough about the facts of your case based on your post to ascertain what if any violations have been commited. You should consult an attorney experienced in the Consumer Fraud Act.
