levy against bank account

i just found out a levy was taken out of my savings account. i have no idea of why or what it is for. how can that happen

There is a judgment against you or someone with your name and other similar identifying information. So, the sheriff or a court officer has made a levy.

Find out the details from the bank and the court. Then, see your lawyer about what to do next.
