Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

I have been negligent on a credit card. The courts have imposed a levy on my bank account. Are they able to do anything beyond this? Are they able to take my house? My car? I have been out of work for two years and I have been collecting unemployment.

See the NJ Courts web site. A judgment can be collect by any lawful means and multiple means can be used simultaneously. If you are financially limited, you can provide to the court for an order limiting what a creditor can collect at one time. However, if you are unable to pay anything, it is not likely that the judge will be receptive to this. Whether or not the judgment can be collected by levy on your real property depends on where the judgment was obtained. If it was in Superior Court proper, then the sheriff can levy on real property if nothing else can be found. If it is a Special Civil Part judgment, it is possible that a lien can be placed on real property, but the property will not be siezed and sold. See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
