Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

wage garnishment

I fell behind on my car payment, currently, I am one month behind. I was told by the car loan company that if i do not bring the payments up to date, they will repossess my car, sell it and garnish my wages for the difference. I am attempting to pay but I am not able to pay the two months necessary to bring my account up to date. What is NJ law on this subject?

Re: wage garnishment

Check the terms and conditions of the lease. They will define what constitutes a default under the lease, whether and to what extent there is a grace period to cure arrears, and the remedies that the lessor may avail itself of in the event of default. Not unusual that the lessor may repossess and sue the lessee for the deficiency in the event of an uncured default under the lease, and if the lessor obtains a judgment it may enforce same through various means including a duly noticed, court ordered wage execution (the specifics of which are governed by statute).
