Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

My 18 year old boyfriend and his 16 year old friend were on the bus when the 16 year old got into a fight with someone on the bus. When the bus driver kicked them of the bus, my boyfriend had broke them both up. He didn't know that they were fighting till they got kicked off the bus. Someone woman on the bus gave the 16 year old a bag that he left on the bus and the guy he fought phone. The guy who got into the fight called the police and got both my boyfriend and his friend locked up. The police asked about the phone and my boyfriend said he didn't know about a phone. His friend said that my boyfriend didn't have anything to do with it and the police still locked him up. They charged my boyfriend with conspiracy and robbery. The 16 year old took the blame for the whole event. How would I be able to show the judge his testament?
