Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

i was arrested for my first time in my life, over the age of 18, for two disorderly persons offense for carrying under 50 grams of marijuana and planning to inhale. The cop said that because i was cooperative it will go a long way. I was wondering what kind of penalty to expect? i know the max penalties but do not know what to expect for myself.

You can apply for what is called a Conditional Discharge, which is a form of probation where, if you complete it successfully, will result in a dismissal of the charge against you. The fines are pretty high, and if you fail out of the program you are facing the maximum penalties you looked up.
