Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

credit card fraud

hello i am looking for some advice,

about a month ago a purchase was

made with a credit card that was

found for about $1000. A detective

from the state the crime was

commited contacted the driver of the

vehicle asking the person that made

the purchase to come into the

precinct to discuss what occured. Not

sure what to do? I am not sure if a

case has been opened as its been

over a month and the detective

claims he just wants to talk there

would be no arrest made. Any

suggestions would be appreciated

Re: credit card fraud

There are several things you could be charged with, from credit card fraud to using a card that you found. You are facing a possible jail sentence of 5 years plus large fines.

The detective is investigating an apparent crime. If he gathers adequate information, he will arrest someone. Sounds like that someone is you. DO NOT give the police a statement without a lawyer present. It is a very good way to get arrested. The fact that it has been a month DOES NOT mean that the matter has been dropped. Call me if you would like to discuss it further at 877*688*3879.

Re: credit card fraud

You are in trouble. You need to hire an attorney. You should respond to the detective in a timely manner so that there will either be no bail or low bail.
