Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I was involved in shoplifting case in paramus, NJ. I am 23. This is my first offense. I have a very clean record. The total worth of items was about $300. WIll this case go on my criminal record. PLease let me know. What is the likely outcome of such a situation? I was taken to the police station and was fingerprinted and photographed. However, there was no bail required.

Since this is over $200.00 the case is a higher level criminal case, a Superior Court case. If you are found guilty then you will have a criminal record and possibly do some jail time.
