Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Someone saw my passenger thow an empty beer can in trash bin at a park .a anonymous caller reported to police we were drinking and pulled us over ,we had one open beer in car . And pot . Is it legal to be pulled over on an anonymous caller ? That was his only reasonfor stop he said
