Do NOT plead guilty because then you will have a criminal record and you will have a very difficult time in your future employment searches. There may be an actual defense against the charge that could result in a dismissal of the criminal charge against you. If there isn't a way to actually beat this outright, there is a more roundabout way to resolve this without your having to plead guilty that will ultimately result in a dismissal of the charge against you. Either way, do not plead guilty. Besides, I would never advise anyone to go to court on a criminal charge without at least first talking to a lawyer. I am an attorney who has handled very many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. I would like to discuss your case with you in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to people about their cases. Please contact me at your convenience. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-

As a first offender you are entitled to apply for a diversionary program in which you will be under probationary supervision for up to a year and then the charge is dismissed.

That's funny what the cop said, yes, you should at least speak with an attorney. You don't need to get a scar on your record like that. I would need more details, but since you weren't driving, I think you may have some good issues to get the case thrown out. It shouldn't get too expensive either. My consultations are always free so call me at 732/247/3340 and I will discuss your options with you and then you can make the choice as to how you would like to proceed.

Good luck!
