Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Recently a neighbor filed a complainant against me of terroristic threats (2C:33:2a) because he doesn't like me or my dog. I didn't do anything, nor did I say anything to him. I am a teacher and I am really concerned. I have a completely clean record, but now I am summoned to appear in court. Not sure what my options are

Well, first off you need to appear in Court, with or without the assistance of an attorney.

The prosecutor may be able to downgrade the offense immediately, you would pay a fine and be done. But this would probably empower the neighbor, who may try it again.....

You really need someone on your side to talk some sense. And take it to trial if necessary. Since you are a teacher, the services of a public defender won't be available.
