search of my property

can the police check the information encrypted on a magnetic strip of a credit card that has my name on it. this occurred while I was arrested for theft

This sounds really odd. Why would they need to do this and how would they do this? Never saw a cop with a credit card reader on his belt.

Bottom line is, if you are charged with a crime, get an attorney and let him or her worry about the legal issues.

I am somewhat puzzled by your question because it begs the question "what difference does it make in the context of your criminal case?" Did the police find anything of evidential value when they scanned the magnetic strip of your credit card? If not, no harm no foul.
