Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

DUI in NC - Live in NJ

I received a DUI in NC w/ a suspended license for 1 year in NC (.09BAC). I live in NJ. Will NJ find out about it? Does NC contact NJ directly or does NJ have to search for penalities like this in some database? How will I be notified if NJ finds out? How long will it take for NJ to find out? Being it was a .09 BAC will NJ only suspend for 3 months?

In the normal course of events, NJ will find out. You really should go talk to an attorney who does a lot of traffic court matters. I personally think these two attorneys are terrific:

ROBERT E. RAMSEY, ESQ.

Donini & Ramsey (Trenton)

JOSEPH P. REM, JR., ESQ.

Rem Zeller Law Group (Hackensack)

I can not give you their phone numbers, this bulletin board will not allow it.

Go get some advice. You dont want to walk for many months if you can avoid it.

If New Jersey Motor Vehicles learns of your out of state dwi conviction it will suspend you driver's license for the same period it would have suspended if it occurred in New Jersey. If New Jersey suspends you for a longer time it will probably be a mistake and you will need to appeal same.

Whether North Carolina will tell New Jersey is anybody's guess, New Jersey does not survey the

nation for traffic violations for its drivers.
