Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Name Change

I was divorced in NY some twenty years ago, and I reside in NJ. My dissolution papers indicate that I may use my maiden name. I have been using both my maiden and married name and now want to use my maiden name exclusively. What do I have to do?

Re: Name Change

You may use the maiden name alone without doing anything as long as it is not for fraudulent purposes.

You should make sure Social Security has it correct as some clients have reported issues with them.

Good luck.
