Child custody

my wife and i live in nj, we are in the middle of a divorce,she's leaving me with our 2 children, i want to take them for vacation in a diffrent country, but we have joint custody,she left me a signed letter that i have full permission to take them , is that valid enough or can i get in trouble if for some unknown reason ,she accuses me of taking or even worse kidnapping the children, im not hiding them , she has all the address and and # of my family and friends. She left the country so bsically im left with the sole parent of the boys...pls help

You need to retain an attorney to protect your interests.

Since you are currently involved in a divorce, and anticipate possible problems from your spouse, the safest course of action is to file a motion with the court where the divorce is pending, explaining the facts of the situation, providing details about your vacation plans, and asking the court to sign an order specifically granting you the right to leave the country with the children for the period of your vacation.
