Divorce settlement payoff how many years is the burden of proof on me

I was divorced 8 years ago . The property settlement was $15000.00 which I paid . Now my ex took me back to court for payment and I have moved twice and can not find all of the checks . How long is the burden of proof on me ???

I could have robbed wawa and got away free after 7 years .

First she should have to explain why she took so long to enforce her rights, but ultimately, the burden is on you to prove the payments were made.

Eight years is a long time to wait to claim nonpayment. You should see a local matrimonial attorney. It would be helpful if you had the last payment check and on it you marked that the subject payment obligation was paid in full./
