Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I have been divorced, for 7 years and received lifetime alimony. My ex has always been late paying and has been to court twice and ordered to pay the money. Last August he was told that a bench warrant would be issued, if he failed to comply. We went before a judge in March and I received a judgement of over 6400 dollars. To date I have received 3400 and he is over 3000 dollars in arrears on top of this. He refuses to file a motion proving that he cannot pay and I live in Nj, he lives in NY. He is remarried, I am not. I filed the case in superior court and need to know how to collect the rest of my money.

These are always tough cases. You need to file another motion to hold him in contempt for the amount of the arrears and to have a warrant issued. Additonally, you can ask for the arrears to be reduced to a judgment and then try to collect on the judgment in NY.
