Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Home inspection regarding visitation

During mediation my soon to be ex wife requested a 45 minute inspection of my fiancees home where I live. My fiancee is very opposed to this as my ex is hostile, insulting and very nasty to her. The mediator told me that the mother has a right to see where her son (who is 5) will be spending his time. I know in other states, this is not a common practice. So she was granted a 45 minute inspection of our home. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from occuring? It is going to be in the mediation agreement and I don't want her in my home. I felt pressured to agree to this as the mediator told me she had the right to see the home. Please advise if this is standard in New Jersey and if there is anything I can do.

Thanks.

Re: Home inspection regarding visitation

The inspection is something that should be done by a probation officer.

There is something wrongfully invasive about your wife inspecting her adversary's turf. By adversary I do not mean you.

I agree with Mr. Moore. I think this is crazy. She has no right to go to the home and I would never agree to it. I suggest you tell the court and the mediator that you no longer agree to that. Send a copy to the other side.
