Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My husband initiated a divorce , and I went with him to sign papers, thinking this process would take a year , and I would have time to set up alimony, before the final divorce, as I did in NY with my previous divorce .. This did not happen,, yet when I went to 2 different city social service agencies , they questioned the validity of the divorce papers , and I do not have cash to pay for a consultation with a divorce lawyer to find out if this is a real divorce document or just a scam paper , set up my my husband

s Arabic lawyer( my ex is Arabic) set up to simply allow my ex husband to not pay bills I had to call/fax etc to the 2 city agencies concerning the specific validity of the divorce. They were not quite satisfied( both agencies) but they helped me with back rent due to the fact that I have underage minor children ( not from my ex -spouse I want to know if I can verify if this divorce is valid and legitimate , please

You can check with the Clerk of Court in the county where the divorce occurred. This is normally the county where you reside.
