minor name change

my 7 year old daughter wants to change her last name to my married name.... she does still see her father about twice a month but he is not an active part of her life... she does not have his last name she has my maden name...do I need his permission to change her name?

The father would have to be notified and he can object. However, since she does not use his last name, the Court may permit the change whereas normally this would be difficult to get approved.

I would think that her father is entitled to be notified to any name change petition that you file to change her name.
