Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Paternity/Custody

If after a child is 3 years old it is disclosed that the person on the birth certificate is not the biological father will the court still recognize him as the father if he wishes to remain so? And is there any court rulings/laws on said situation?

Re: Paternity/Custody

It depends. I would say at 3 years old, no. But if you were to let this go and the child is now 15 or so, then yeah, you are essentialy the father regardless of what happens. However, if you want to do things the right way, just adopt the child.
