Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My ex and I are scheduled for a hearing to make our recent TROs permanent. This is something that I would like to avoid. I do not want to reconcile, nor does he, just agree to part ways civilly. instead of this permanent hatred. I am not in fear of my life, and believe there's a chance that his terroristic threats are only made out of anger. He has charged me with harassing him via phone and email that went on for only two days while things were heated.

If agreed upon can the Court grant us a brief contact to have a private conference at the courthouse immediately prior to the hearing?
