Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I am a single parent. My adoption decree was rescinded but I was allowed to keep custody of my adopted child while reapplying for his adoption. At this time I would like to get a passport for him but it requires either that: both parents be present when applying or presenting an adoption decree paper that indicates that it is a single parent adoption. If I present the original adoption decree (now rescinded) to the passport agency will I get in trouble.
