Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Automobile property damage claims

I was involved in an accident in May of last year. I was making a left turn through an intersection, the car on the oppisite side was also making a left turn. As I was about to complete my turn a car came from behind the vehicle that was about to turn and smashed into the back right side of my car. There was no turning lane. The driver is now, a year later, attempting to collect 4000 dollars in damages from me. Unfortunately the insurance company I used at the time went out of business and I do not know how to contact them and Im not sure what to do.

Re: Automobile property damage claims

This is an unfortunate situation. There is a guarantee fund for insolvent insurers. Contact the State Department of Banking and Insurance for information on how to make a claim.
