Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

I am currently married but, due to a possible career change, I will not be primarily living at the current home address at all. Which means, I would need to live in my new location and withdraw from living in my old place of residence due to the long distance of living. Would like my name off the property and do not wish to be legal bond to two mortgages and or apartment/rental fees. My spouse will remain in the old address while I further my career in another state. How can I get my name off of the property and leave everything in his name so I can be freely committed to my new career?

My work number is 302-323-7249 Monday through Friday and after 6:00, my cell 609-202-8972.

Thank you.

Jennifer

It is unlikely the mortgage company will remove your name from the mortgage, as it is better for them not to. You can try a quick claim deed, just in your husband's name, but the mortgage company may object to that, or ask for immediate payoff on the mortgage, forcing him to get a new mortgage just in his name - Is that possible??? Another option is divorce, which normally entails a separation of property, or take some legal action to have your name removed, but that is unlikely unless your husband can afford the house himself. If you are literally separating, why not divorce? There is no easy answer here. You can try calling the mortgage company, or going to an attorney.
