Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Ransome

My daughter just moved from a house she was sharing with a roommate who became abusive. He is claiming she owes him money. He had purchased a dog for her almost 2 years ago, she has assumed all vet bills (paid on my credit card) and he has been her dog, however, the dog purchase was in his name at the time. He would not let her take the dog with her, and has sent both emails and texts, along with harassing calls that unless he receives 4300 she will not get the dog. He was offered the cost of the dog, but has said no. What is her recourse? She cannot afford an attorney or legal fees.

Re: Ransome

Apply for a credit card or she could borrow the money. This isn't an expensive type of case for an attorney to handle. So, I'm sure she could find the money if she tried. Otherwise, she could file an action in small claims court on her own.
