Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

responsablity for lost jackit

My wife worked for this lady, at her house, serving food for a party the lady had. When she got there the lady told her to put her jacket on the bed with the rest of them. after she was done working she went to get her jacket it was not there. the lady told her she would ask her firends if one of them grabed it and would get back to us. well in the mean time she gave my wife another jacket of lesser value to use until she was able to find it. A week went buy and still no jacket and now she doe not want to replace it. We just want to know if she has to replace it or not. Thank you very much for your time

Re: responsablity for lost jackit

First, I'm no expert in this area of law, but using my basic knowledge, it would seem that she has no responsiblity to maintain the security of your jacket. I doubt anyone stole it and it was probably an accident.

I think the better thing to do would be to get a copy of the guest list and make some calls. I just don't see where you could possibly go with this.
