Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Is there a statute of limitations on verbal agreements?

Can a person be sued if another claims that they are owed money for work they rendered 4-5 years ago?

There were no contracts, only the worker who is looking to be paid (a bogus claim too).

Thank you for your response.
