Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Is it illegal for human resources to save all employees personal files on a general shared drive that everyone has access to? I live in NJ.

Well, it depends on what information is contained in the personnel files. At minimum, it's very imprudent for HR do to so, and it can expose the company to legal action if the information is private.
