Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
Lease Termination
My roomate, without my approval signed a lease termination document. Can I legally take her to court to get back security and monies owed until the original lease is up?

Re: Lease Termination
I assume that you each put up half of the security deposit. Your roommate owes you what you
contributed to the security deposit. You should send a letter by certified mail to the landlord explaning that you intend to stay for the balance of the lease and/or beyond and that you will be responsible for paying the rent. Your roommate probably is responsible for his or her half of the rent for a reasonable period. Sue your roommate.
