Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

I have rented for 5 years with a yearly lease. After the first year my landlord never gave me a new lease just the same one to sign on the side of the paper. Is that legal to hold me for a year?

If the original lease was legal, if you re-signed and dated ther same lease indicating you were staying for another year, yeah, that should be binding. Let me ask you this, why would you think it was not? Especially for 5 year (4 re-signings) If you have any problem re-signing, ask for a new lease.
