Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Res Judicata

My exlandlord sued me in special Civil LT tenant court for back rent.

He lost and was denied possession, and told to refund me for an overpayment of rent. It was a two trial. I moved anyway and then received a lawsuit for unpaid rent again, this time in special civil

they did not appeal, owing him rent was litigated, can he re sue without appealing the first judgment
