Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Landlord has not given back all of my security deposit...citing ''days not rented until new tenants were found'' and charging per diem on days. Nothing was discussed about this & she dragged her feet to give my money back. is this legal? She had released me from the lease early, a verbal agreement, because of problems with the other tenant & misfit with me.

LL is req'd to return all of your sec. deposit w/in 30 days, or give you an itemized list of deductions. If you had an agreement with the LL to terminate the lease early that you allege she is not honoring, you may be able to pursue this furhter, but I don't have enough facts.
