Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Vacation rental in New Jersey

Am Texas resident. Situation: rent a house for a three day summer stay in Cape May, NJ directly from the owner. Have contract from owner. $400 deposit plus rental required. Question: if house is returned in same conditon as upon receipt and no contract violations committed, what recourse do I have if owner chooses to keep deposit? Owner declined offer to go through house at time it was turned over, saying she would go through it later.

Thanks.

Re: Vacation rental in New Jersey

you sue in NJ small claims for tripple damages. you should demand return of the deposit, in written letter send certified mail. then sue.
