Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in New Jersey

My attorney passed away and phone is disconnected

I hired an attorney to assist me with the appeal process with my insurance company. He filed the first appeal which was denied and told me he filed the second appeal. After many unanswered calls I just found out he passed away. I also found out that he never filed my appeal. His phone is disconnected and website was shut down. What do I do??

Contact the Board of Bar Examiners to find out if they have any information on the attoreny and who has take over his files.

If there is malpractice, then you can also make a claim against his estate and insurance, regardless of whether the died or not. Also, write his office and send the letter Certified Return Reciept Requested, so that you can see if they are still accepting mail.

Hope that helps.
