Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in New Jersey

My father went to the doctor b/c he was dizzy. That doc sent him to the E.R b/c he said he needed his medications changed, his coumadin was too high. In the e.r The doctors orders were for him to be given 5 mg of vitamin k orally . The nurse didn't pay attention and gave him 10 mg I.V. He went right in to anaphalactic shock and cardiovascular collapse. Was put on life support for 3 days, he finally became councoius after 8 days. He had to go to a rehab hospitol for another wek but is fine now. In the e.r after this all happend the head doctor and the head of the hospitol risk management took my mother and I aside and took full responsiblility for the as the doctor called it "major fuck up" and apologized profusly. My father does not think he has much of a case b/c he survived and is fine now. My mother and I do not agree. I guess I am asking. is it worht my mothers while to sue the hospitol for what they did to my father and if so what could she ask for and more so what could she possibly get. thank you

We'd need additional information in order to evaluate your potential claim. Please feel free to contact me or any of my partners at the Blume Goldfaden Firm via the profile information provided on this site.
