Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Dog bite settlement

Two years ago,my dog bit my daughter's best friend. Naturally, we were sued, and our insurance company settled the day we were scheduled for depositions. At that time we found out that early on they also settled and paid for the medical bills. Here's the rub. The day after the incident we gave the parents a check for $3500 to pay for the emergency room/plastic surgeon consultation. Now that we know that they were reimbursed by the insurance company, is there any recourse to get that money back?

Re: Dog bite settlement

THat is a seroious problem, as the prior payment should have been previously disclosed. If you inform the insurance attoreny they may take action agaisnt your friends. If you are interested in gettting the money back, tell the insurance company lawyer, although it may be too late. Further, if the friends are shown to have lied about the prior recovery from you, it could land them in hot water, and you may want to consider that before taking action.
