Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Out of state slip and fall

I was injured while attending a wedding at a New Jersey banquet hall. I live in Florida. Can I hire a personal injury lawyer locally, or do I need a New Jersey lawyer to represent me?

Generally you would need a local atty. If you'd like to speak with me I have an office in FL and am also licensed as an atty in NJ.

You would most likely need an attorney in NJ. If the defendnat does business in FL or nationally, then you may be able to pursue in FL. However, NJ law will apply in the case and it would make the most sense to have a NJ lawyer in most circumstances.

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like to discuss NJ representation.

Re: Out of state slip and fall

If the catering hall is a New Jersey business with no ties to Florida, you should retain an attorney in New Jersey to pursue this case, especially since the accident occurred in New Jersey and the defendant (catering hall) is located in New Jersey. It would be simpler to obtain jurisdiction in New Jersey over this business and they would be unable to claim that venue in New Jersey is improper. I would be happy to discuss this further with you, as my firm handles personal injury litigation in New Jersey. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you may have.
