Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

I stopped briefly in a parking lot fire lane to drop off passengers in front of a store. Another car which was parked, backed into the side of my car. He claims I had no right to stop there. I claim he should have been able to see me if he had bothered to look behind him. My car was in drive, my foot on the brake. This was in Oakhurst, NJ. Who is at fault?
